Quench
the Sea
Havenforge does not fabricate. We re-cast. The shaft that snapped off Utsira, the bell the salt ate through, the lighthouse gear no foundry will touch because the tolerances are from 1894 — bring them wet. We dry the iron in the fire, speak to it in brimstone, and drop it where the brine hisses. What comes up is older than the break.
► Open the HearthShip’s Rudder Blade
A 1903 herring drifter lost her blade off Ona. We took the starboard stub, made a loam mould off the port original, poured 88% copper, 10% tin, 2% lead at 1180°. Chased the pour with a bell hammer while it skinned over. Swings true now, verdigris already starting in the letters.
The Bell That Ate Salt
Værøy chapel bell cracked at the waist. Too thin to weld honest. We broke her, re-alloyed with 3% silver from a melted teapot, cast a fog-diem diaphragm instead — same voice, but she rings once a minute now, not on pull. The village hears her in bed.
1894 Bevels, Re-cut
Two bevels gone in the clockwise train at Skagsudde. No drawings survive but the broken teeth. We took the mating wheel, back-traced the module by caliper and patience, cut new from forged scrap steel, case-hardened 0.8mm. Mesh now quieter than the sea outside.
